Deep
Muscle Massage Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy and TMJ
Lisa
has had her own practice for over 18 years as a massage therapist.
Emphasis: Deep tissue, trigger point therapy, sports rehabilitation, resistant
stretching, TMJ, pregnancy.
She received her Bachelors Degree in Education in Home Economics
and Science from Georgia Southern University. It was there which
Lisa gained an interest in nutrition and human anatomy. After graduation,
Lisa turned her focus to massage therapy where she found she could work
in a health care setting with chiropractors, orthopedists, dentists,
psychotherapists,as well as ob-gynecology and their clients. Although a
more clinical type practice which caters to stress management,
chronic headaches, TMJ, pregnancy, neck & low back
pain; Lisa manages to have an eclectic style of her own - drawing
from many disciplines, philosophies, and professionals.
Lisa's unique approach helps the clients understand the integral
relationship between the body, mind, and spirit. This is encouraged
by increasing the clients' awareness of their environment.
Environmental stresses maybe represented by poor ergonomics, body
mechanics, and posture. These influences can cause tension through
out the body in which musculo-skeletal adaptations begin to occur:
headaches, neck and low back pain. This can lead to poor concentration,
irritability, decreased clarity, sleep disturbances, and depression.
Some individuals resort to medication to deal with these problems.
Lisa prefers to encourage the client to take a "proactive" rather
than a "reactive" approach in dealing with his or her
stresses. Educating the client to be aware of how their bodies respond
to stress, the mind reacts to stress, and how the spirit is stifled
through stress is truly the beginning of treating and healing the
whole person.
